Córdoba, Quindío · Colombia

Grown by my family.

Brought here by me.

Café Grato is my bridge bringing my family’s legacy, our passion and the essences of Colombia coffee culture to Australia one bean at the time

I grew up surrounded by coffee fields, playing among the trees with my cousins on my grandfather’s farm in Córdoba, Quindío. Right in the heart of Colombia’'s UNESCO Coffee Triangle. Coffee was more than a crop. It was family, culture, and tradition.

Grato is the short version of my Grandfather and my Father’s full name “Gratiniano”. Grato in Spanish means pleasant, pleasing, nice or welcome.

OUR Story

In 2013, I moved to Adelaide, SA, and I was captivated by the landscapes of the vineyards and the same generational pride expressed through every bottle of wine. I was inspired by the passion and self-determination of vignerons. And so, Café Grato was born in my heart. A dream to bring Australian coffee lovers closer to the heart of Colombian cafeteros culture.

As a daughter of coffee farmers, life was full of hard work and hope. My family believed in education as way to break the cycle of poverty and open new paths, and after 25 years building my career in both countries, I still missed home. The landscapes, the colorful balconies, the aroma of coffee, the sounds of bamboo and family conversations with "cafecito."

In 2019, my parents came to Australia to share a dream, one we had held for years. Together, I achieved something my family always hoped for. My father, as coffee farmer, was moved by Australia’s coffee culture. The cafés, the people who embraced him when they learned he was a farmer.

In 2021, I married my husband, and together, we share a passion for premium coffee, good food, and fine wine. As a family we’re embracing the same passion both countries have for quality, community-driven coffee culture. It’s about sharing the heritage, the traditions, and the personal journey of every farmer.

Each cup you enjoy is a bridge between where the beans are cultivated and the stories of the hands that carefully pick them.

Connecting the families, their stories, and their future.
