Our Purpose

Why does place matters?

Bringing the taste of the unique combination of growing conditions of the soil, air, and altitude of the UNESCO World Heritage Paisaje Cultural Cafetero of the Colombian Central Andes and the individual farmer's personal hand in processing the coffee. Our coffee's distinct profile emerges from the terroir, the perfect harmony of soil, air, and altitude specific to the "tierra templada." Paired with the expert hands of our local farmers, each bean is a tribute to Grato's plantations' unique growing conditions, meticulously nurtured to bring you not just a cup of coffee, but a celebration of the rich Colombian heritage and the unparalleled taste crafted from our homeland.

The Place

Quindío, Colombia.

The department of Quindío sits in the Cordillera Central of the Colombian Andes. It is part of what Colombians call the Eje Cafetero the Coffee Axis the narrow band of altitude and climate where the country's finest coffee has always been grown. Our farms and farmers partners are in Córdoba, in the heart of it.

High enough that the cherries ripen slowly. Slow ripening means more time for sugars and complexity to develop inside the bean.
